Gunner Joseph Marsden,
3rd Battalion, Royal Field Artillery,
Capt. F. Gordon's Company.

Joseph Marsden born in the Parish of Dronfield in or near the town of Dronfield in the County of Derby about 1779.  He enlisted into the Royal Artillery in 1807 aged 28.  He had previously served in the York Fencibles for 1 year and 182 days.

He fought with Captain F. Gordon's Company in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 in the 3rd Battalion of the Field Artillery.  This Company consisted of 5 x 9 pounder's and 1 x 5½" howitzer.

As a consequence of being judged unfit he was retired on a pension of 9d per day from 30th June 1816.  On his discharge paper he is described as about 38 years of age, is 5 feet 9¾" in height has sandy hair, grey eyes, fair complexion and by trade a File Smith.
He had served a total of 12 years 303 daysin total.
